I, Antonio de Jesus Sanchez, was born in a small village in Sinaloa, Mexico in a large family. My mother left me weeks after I was born in the hands of my beloved grandmother. From the time I was a small toddler, I was always drawing pictures and making stories. Whenever I had money, I spent it all in the local cinemas, basking in the romance and glamour of my favorite Hollywood and Mexican movie classics. After seeing Robert Mulligan's "To Kill a Mockingbird" for the first time at age thirteen  I decided right then that I wanted to be a filmmaker. Since then, I have never lost my love for the movies, and I hope I convey this love to my audiences. I see my films as a synthesis between my artistic side and my storytelling side.

As a Latino filmmaker, my greatest inspiration are the numerous Latino actors and filmmakers of the past and present, such as Dolores Del Rio, Katy Jurado, Anthony Quinn, Salma Hayek, Rita Moreno and many others, who brought their special gifts into the American mainstream cinema and paved the way for young Latino filmmakers like myself who hope to make their own special contribution. I continue to be artistically enriched by the masterworks of Pedro Almadovar, who has influenced my work considerably.

Some people have seen my cinematic style as a bridge between two cultures, American and Latin American. While my films savor of the suspense and plot interest of American cinema, they also dwell upon the emotional realities of everyday life and everyday people, as in Latin American cinema. Time is often suspended or inverted; and reality is often mixed with fantasy. However, I am interested in telling stories that are based on real life experiences. People ask me, "What kind of films do you make? Are they comedy? Are they drama?" I can only answer that there is a little of everything in my films, just like there is a little of everything in real life.

At the age of thirteen, my mother brought me to San Diego Ca. which has been my hometown ever since.  In 2010, I graduated under the Television, Film and New Media program at San Diego State University. There, I wrote and directed three short films. All About Martha(2009) was my first short film, which won best short film at SDSU. Follow by the Wally Award winner (best screenplay),  The Last Transformation of Francisco(2010) and last The Guest(2010). My shorts have been shown at the San Diego Latino Film Festival, as well as the San Diego Film Festival.
